The Museum was being managed under the Gandhi Smarak
Nidhi (Gandhi Memorial
Trust), New Delhi, in whose campus it
is located, till 1965. On November 6, 1965,
'Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya
Samiti' (GSSS; Gandhi Memorial Museum Society),
Rajghat, New Delhi, was registered under the Societies
Registration Act of 1860,
vide Regn. No. S.2873 of 1965-66 on 26 November 1965.
Since then the Museum is managed by the GSSS through its
Governing Body, whose

Shri Sadiq Ali, one of the most
respected Gandhians, was the Chairman from 21
January 1965 till his sad demise on 17th April 2001. After that Sh. B.R.
Nanda was the Chairman till 30 July, 2008.
Director, Smt. Sangita Mallik, is the executive head of the Museum. She is assisted by an
OSD, an Administrative Officer, a Head of Library, and about 29 other regular staff.
